All divisions, except G16U will play 8 pool play matches, playing each other team two times, and then all teams will be entered in a double elimination tournament with seeding based on the standings from the pool play rounds. team one time. In the B16U and G19U divisions (with four teams each), each team will play the other three teams twice and will also have two matches versus an Area W opponent. One match will be at and Area E field and the other will be at an Area W field (Camarillo, Oxnard, Ohia, Ventura, etc.) The matches against Area W opponents will NOT be considered in the standing and will have no effect on the seeding for the double elimination tournament. The winner of the double elimination tournament will normally be the team that is invited to participate in the Section 10 tournament in Bakersfield. In the event that team cannot participate or is disqualified by the Area Director due to gross misconduct, the runner up will be invited to participate in the Section tournament.
The Girls 16U division, with only 3 teams, will be fully integrated with the Area W schedule. The last week of the season will include a mini tournament (format to be determined) to identify the team to be invited to the Section 10 tournament in Bakersfield. Head to head competition during the season will be a consideration when scheduling the min-tournament.
All 16U matches will be 40 minute matches. All 19U matches will be 90 minute matches, EXCEPT matches against Area W opponents which will be 80 minute matches.
Points and tie breaker rules for all pool play matches will be as defined in the Rules and Regulations for 16U/19U play, on the Area 10-E website.
In the double elimination tournament (single elimination for Girls 16U), running from October 20 - November 3, all matches must have a winner. If the match is tied at the end of regulation play, the winner will be determined by Kicks from the Penalty Mark to be conducted according to the FIFA Laws of the Game. For the final matches (on October 20 and, if necessary, October 21), if a match ends in a tie, there will be two full 5-minute overtime periods to determine a winner. If the match is still tied, a winner will be determined by JKicks from the Penalty Mark.
